Decuma is from what arguably is the longest-established Marefield motherline. Grandam Moira, winner of the Ihlienworth Mare Show as a 2-year old, was brought from Germany in 1990. In 1991, Moira was site champion at her AHS/VhW Inspection. The following year, she gave birth to Decuma's dam, Wintersong. Wintersong was Grand Champion, Dressage at Devon 1993. She was sent to stay with the Clasen family in Germany where she earned the high score at her mare performance test and was winner of her class at the Verden Mare Show in 1995.

In 1996, Wintersong’s first foal, a filly by Davignon, was born. EM Destine, who is owned by Dr. Deborah Davenport, was site champion at her AHS/VhW Inspection in 1999 and tied for 3rd place nationwide that year. Wintersong's second Davignon daughter, Decuma, was born in 1998.

In 1999, Decuma won the Yearling Fillies class and also received 1st prize in the Hanoverian Young Horse IBC, Dressage at Devon. On the 2001 AHS/VhW Inspection Tour, she tied for top score nationwide in the mare performance test. Decuma was winner of the 3-Year-Old Fillies Materiale class with a score of 80%, Dressage at Devon 2001, and she was 3rd in the nation, 3-Year-Old Fillies, USDF Dressage Sporthorse Breeding Division that year.

Decuma produced her first foal, a colt by Ruiz Soler, in 2003. This year she had a filly by Rienzi, providing us with a fourth generation of this mare family.
