Europa’s mother, grandmother and great-grandmother won the champion mare family title at the Ostfriesland Mare Show in 1989. This was not the only time that Constanze and her daughters and/or granddaughters had won such a prize, but it was memorable for the age of the matriarch at the time–22 years old and still going strong.
Like her forebears, Europa has been a steady broodmare for the long-term. Many of her early production years were spent on breeding lease and the offspring she produced for the breeder sold readily. One of Europa’s first foals for Marefield, Ardmore, sold to dressage rider Vasilios Haseotes in Florida who sends yearly reports on his young prospect’s progress. Europa's Gold Luck daughter, Ghuatemala, bred by Mo Swanson, was top filly at her 2001 inspection. Romy provides Marefield with our own filly from this strong and consistent motherline and our first opportunity to carry it through many more years.
