Papagena is one of three Marefield broodmares from the breeding program of the Kleemeyer family. Mother Samantha is also the dam of the Prince Thatch XX daughter SPS Priscilla, and grandam Androne is mother of EM Salvana. In 1993, this family won the Sudweyhe Mare Show. Dolani, Samantha’s son by Drosselklang II, has been successfully competed in S-level dressage by rider/trainer Holga Finken. The stallion Sherlock Holmes is also from this motherline.

Papagena was Filly and Young Horse Champion, Dressage at Devon 1994, and in 1995 she was Young Horse Champion and Reserve Grand Champion, PVDA. In 1996, Papagena was site champion at her AHS/VhW Inspection.

Papagena's first foal, Rhiannon, won the Hanoverian IBC Young Horse Division, Dressage at Devon 1998. In 2002, Rhiannon did well under saddle and also won some more breed show titles for then owner Kim Hoover (MD). In 2003, Rhiannon was acquired by the Baer family of Orlean, VA. She already has achieved numerous wins and placings in dressage with her young rider Crystal Baer and she was named Reserve Mare Champion at the Lexington Breed Show in July. In 2003, Rhiannon became an EM.

Acapella is in the process of being purchased by Mo Swanson who spotted her as a yearling. Mo has raised and trained the bay filly who achieved a 7 on her MPT in 2002 and has successfully shown in both dressage and hunters. Son Crispin remains at Marefield, the property of Stable Manager Barbara Holden, who has plans to start riding him soon. Crispin’s full brother, Constantin, is being raised as a stallion prospect by co-owners Bob Orton and Sherra Kosch at their Buck Branch Farm in Gladys, VA. Papagena's 2003 filly by Ruiz Soler introduces interesting bloodlines we have been seeking and is a lovely type with good movement. She is a keeper for the Marefield breeding program.
