Salvana is from a prize-winning mare family bred at Hof Kleemeyer. Her full brother, Sherlock Holmes, stood at Celle for a number of years after completing his 1992 performance test, 2nd overall with a score of 145.49. Another full brother, Savaldo, is competed successfully by the Kleemeyers' trainer Ingrid Wilkens. Marefield owns two other mares from this motherline out of Androne's Saloniki daughter, SPS Samantha: EM Papagena by Pablo and SPS Priscilla by Prince Thatch XX.
In 1994, Salvana came in second to Papagena to earn the title Reserve Young Horse Champion, Dressage at Devon. The next year, she was Filly Champion and Reserve Champion Young Horse, Lexington. In 1995, Salvana also won the Hanoverian Young Horse IBC, Devon, with a score of 85%.
Salvana’s first foal, Richmond, is starting a promising performance career under Robin Brueckmann; second son, Avatar, is competing in Colorado.
While waiting for the 2003 breeding season, Salvana was in exercise to whittle her weight and provide a lesson horse for Marefield staff, a task for which her easy laid-back temperament, eagerness to please and superior rideability recommended her.
In 2004, Salvana gave birth to her first filly, an elegant bay by Dauphin, who looks like a refined version of her dam.
