Ranis's dam, Bounty, is from an outstanding line bred by the Sommerfeld family of Neuhaus in the Stade region. Grandam, Lomella, full sister to the long-time Celle stallion Lanthan, is also grandam of the 2-year-old Rotspon filly who was the 2002 Ratje Niebuhr-Schau Young Mare Champion.

Bounty’s first foal, Livia (by Lemon Park), is a successful dressage competitor in Oklahoma; Bounty's Akzent II son, Augustus, is pursuing a dressage career in New England. Ranis’s full brother, Rienzi, was top-scoring Hanoverian of the 1998 Federation Stallion Performance Test at Paxton Farm in Cincinnati, OH. A sister by the Raphael son Ravallo, EM Regan, owned by Laura Whitford, was the highest-scoring Hanoverian in the nation presented on the 1998 AHS/VhW Inspection Tour. A Ranis full sibling, Rheia, became an elite mare candidate in 2000.

Ranis was winner of the 1999 Verden Mare Show and also won her class at that year’s Louis-Wiegels-Schau. In 2000, Ranis placed 5th in her class at the Ratje Niebuhr-Schau and was cited by judge Dr. Burchard Bade as “the best mover” of the group.

Ranis’s first foal, Wranis, placed 2nd in the Yearling Fillies class, Dressage at Devon 2001. In 2003, Wranis was again competed in breed shows. At year-end, she was ranked 5th nationally in the USDF Sport Horse Awards, 3-year-old fillies. She also earned 6th place in the 2003 AHS Breeding Division Awards, Young Horse–Fillies. Wranis became an EMC in July of that same year at the AHS/VhW Inspection held at Hilton Farm. Ranis's second foal, Danae, was champion of the 2001 Lohberg Foal Show and received the 1a Preis at the Verden Mare Show in 2003.
